Grief of Alzheimer

Grief of Alzheimer

A Poem by Tony Hwilka
"

Trovli 10 word contest

"

I hear a voice that dwells

inside my head while I sleep.

In the gray mass of oblivion

I emerge from infancy.

At a loss for answers,

I wander far and deep

for someone to guide me

answer my questions.

Why -- why am I here?

This is not my garden

these are not my flowers.

They come to the nursery

to take me home.

Excellent write! I couldn't fault this Tony. Touching and heartfelt
sentiments about an insidious disease that is indeed grief for the
sufferer and sometime even more so for their loved ones.

A very worthy submission for Tovli's contest and a beautifully crafted poem.
Thank you for sharing.

Gripping and heartfelt Tony, you have a way with words,
profound in its entirety, as well as simplicity, you capture well.

This is indeed a very sad disease. I am a certified nurses aide and certified home health aide. I currently sit with an elderly gentleman, who is inflicted with this dreadful disease. It is so sad, and jjust breaks my heart to watch him as he declines.

Hi Tony. Very profound meaning this write holds. As a retired nurse aide who worked in long term care facilities...and most of the time in the Alzhiemer's units...I can testify to the sadess of this insideous disease. But for a fact...it can destroy the mind...but never the soul.

I've seen the fading process and its ending result take over the life of one of my grandmothers. You've captured the sadness well. Congratulations on your win, Tony. Sharon

If one is prone to wandering what better place to end up than a nursery?
(I'm assuming it's plants, not babies)

I really like this very much. It reminds me of my grandpa before he died. He was like a lost child. You've captured the feeling perfectly. Great poem!

the first stanza captures me and makes u understand the disease, a sad and heartbreaking reality. I found it well written and should be a winner in any contest :)

One point only, is the last word in the 2nd last line correct? Nursey?
