M
y life
, sometimes I  ponder,
God.....did he fashion my hands and skin from another?
Am I just a recovered tired vessel,
refurbished lung and breath, reassembled, to be something fragile?

My fears and defects I feel are not my own,
borrowed and rented maybe, from someone once known.
Your voice just a proverbial song.
It feels ancient, but like an undercurrent, it carries me along.

My story perhaps is a plagiarism of you,
a reincarnation of what I might answer, and what I might do.
With every deliberate ill-mannered step,
someone before me, has already passed, lingered, and slept.

My soul, has it lived before?
It seems to be the same narrow path, but a different revolving door.
Seeking answers in restorative dreams,
this body, however temporary, is not what it seems.

My thumbprint, a reminder of her,
your girlish vision, a familiar relic, with a haunting blur.
Is this a case of refuted Deja vu?
Or just maybe, she's a vicarious spirit, that has been there too.

Author's Note

The Cobra Lounge
At a very young age, as young as 3 or 4, I would dream over and over again, that I was some young girl from India. Royalty perhaps, or a servant to royalty. I found it odd that I would dream about such a thing at an age, when I had yet to even understand or comprehend countries or cultures such as India. Nevertheless, with these dreams still vivid, and a feeling of deja vu every now and then. I found a picture that reminded me of "Her". The girl in my dreams....

Rebirths and reincarnations are aplenty in Indian mythology, but I was really drawn in by the concept when I read about the River Lethe in Greek mythology where souls would go to wash the memories clean of their previous life. It's all so... fascinating.

This is indeed a marvellous poem, searching for answers we may never find. I felt "My story perhaps is a plagiarism of you" was a brilliant line!

I found the subject matter of your poem very interesting. I have been intrigued by the thought of Deja Vu;as I have had visions while awake of me in a different time and place. I see myself in England in the 1700's as a lady walking in the English country side with a quite handsome English man who apparently was my lover. I picture a baby;a son we had, but an unhappy ending to a love story. I know as incredible as it sounds,I somehow believe it because I have visioned it repeatedly..... I also wrote a poem about Deja Vu and have included my fascination with it in other poems. If you ever want to read my poem on this I will send you a link. It is not posted here on w.c.
I loved your poem. you went one step further than I did and described the feelings of having a rebirth... brilliant write... I love it!!!

I have the same daydreams and I can relate to this poem in the sense of the deja vu. The imagery and feel behind this poem is incredible and you had me hanging on every word. Bravo

Well evolved. I like the graphic form, lending to organizing your private thoughts out on the subject. In conjunction with your background note, I'd say you've represented deja vu in regards to past lives excellently.

Oooo...you have no idea how much I love this poem! I can relate to this poem. I get deja vu's too! It is interesting having past memories that we haven't even seen or gone through but we just feel it and see it in our dreams. That's cool about your dream though. =) For me, I actually dream about Russia.. I feel a pull there even though I still haven't been there. But I've had dreams about my past living there and how i was... Really fascinating,..
This is a brilliant poem. =D I loved it.

That is odd that you would have such dreams. The authors note along with the poem brings me to questioning, phenomenal poem.
