Does he see her
the girl in RED
with a pretty head
not yet an adult
but already guilty
it's because she's a Jew
made ragged and filthy.
Can he save her
 no he cannot
your war she fights alone
uncertainty bestowed
innocent and forgotten
roaming around
her dinner now rotten.
Will he help her
perhaps so
with a one way ticket
her destiny awaits
a chamber of false hope
a showered genocide
made with hydrogen cyanide.
Can he feel her
cold soft baby skin
she's not hurting now
made forever young
poisoned little lungs
in this world
her life went unsung........

Oh this is perhaps the most painful part of that entire film. And he never even knew she was. Saddest part of all. This speaks to the innocence of so many lost to cruel tormentors. Evil which destroys beauty in the name of... I cannot even fathom the what. Powerful piece. And so harshly yet beautifully described. They all deserve this kind of tender remembrance.

Teared up a little...

Made better for the picture and inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Also reminds me of the movie, The boy in the striped pajamas. When the little boys ran into the gas chamber unbeknownst to the evil that lie waiting...I screamed at my t.v., "NO! Stop! Please don't go in there!" Horrible. Your write captures that same feeling of hopelessness and pain to the Holocaust. No, we shall never forget.

I'll never forget that moment when they cart her off to be burned... And this poem captures everything I felt watching so beautifully.

I finally saw that movie not too long ago it was an amazing true story that was so sad to think that humans can be so evil toward one another. Too many times people are judged on things that they have no control over or no choice in. This particular time in our history was one of the worst to me, to try and completely wipe out a group of people on a notion that is based in pure silliness shows how long we have to go before we truly become higher evolved beings. Your pen dips in deep waters of our times reminding us so that something like this never happens again.

You've ripped out my soul.
This is truly heartbreaking work.

What a deep sadness sweeps over the song of history in these glimpses you share. Our darkest moments.. those that can linger still... Raise us up above the scars we have left behind.

This is truly a memorable scene from an excellent and heart-wrenching movie. Your poem does it justice.
