Lessons to be learned

Lessons to be learned

A Poem by Vertigoingnowhere
"

something i wrote in history class

"

In my short time ive been living, ive come to learn a lot

so listen very closly to the lessons ive been taught

Ive learned that growing up is over rated and sad to go through

when we're little we want to grow then when we do we wish we could renew

ive learned its hard to be alone when we're alive

When i get by myself i feel scared and lost inside

but the hope that theres someone out there makes the dark seem bright.

Ive learned that life is the hardest thing we'll ever go through

the pain we feel, but the picture we paint, comes with a reward like getting a tattoo

Ive learned i have to fight for what i belive in to stay alive

and all this ive realized

is just a few things ive found out about life

but i feel i will never understand the reason why

We want to know what happens after we eventually die

I guess we'll just have to find out when the time is right

My learning is certainly not done

My lessons have only just begun

Your last two lines say it all: ' My learning is certainly not done ~ My lessons have only just begun '. And believe me, it's not just learning that matters but what to do with that learning, for using it wisely, carefully, kindly. Looking back I realise that the worse thing about living life is wasting seconds crying over spilled milk and being afraid to move on, everything is an education. Seems you already know that, your words are pretty well on the ball but don't be afraid, fear's a killer!

Fine writing, fine thinking.

Dear HighSchoolAdventurer,

Such lessons are often prevalent in the feelings of any historian. I would suggest change the word "renew" because it sounds so out of place, maybe "reverse" or break it up, perhaps; it looks pretty long. Another thing, you can break it up every time you start with "I've" to signify a new lesson learned.

I didn't understand this line, "The pain we feel, but the picture we paint, comes with a reward like getting a tattoo..." I had to reread and now I get it. Getting a tattoo is painful, but the picture turns out to be a beautiful thing. Now, this has become my favorite line, lol.

I felt you could have expanded on this line, "Ive learned I have to fight for what I believe in." How? Why do you feel this way or what do you do to fight.

As for the idea of the poem, I think is very relative to the reader as in this span of life, we all learn something, if not, we are going in circles insane.

Interesting read. Thanks for sharing.

Sincerely Livana Lowell (LL)

God bless

You have done very well with your wisdom in this poem. Better to journey with another in life. Death will come. Best enjoy each new day and hold on to hope. Last line is fact. We will learn something everyday of a life. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

I don't think that age really helps with the lessons. We are all still learning as we go. (Believe me we still learn no matter what age we are) Very nice poem and a joy to read and realize that some of those thoughts are exactly how I felt at one time or another. :)
