Magnificent Desolation

Magnificent Desolation

A Story by Hipster Detective
"

Thoughts of an empty playground at midnight.

"
"Beautiful! Beautiful! Magnificent desolation." ~~Buzz Aldrin

We stood in the parking lot of the local elementary school, having just come from the playground. The kid who had asked us for a cigarette while singing to himself was on the swings, most likely baked out of his mind. The moon was almost full and it hung low over the orange brick building. The parking lot sloped ever so slightly under the glare of the streetlights and I tossed a rock on the hopscotch courts, not really feeling like playing, but needing to do something. I looked out on our kingdom, that pitch-black land, that desolate wasteland, and thought it beautiful.

Author's Note

Hipster Detective
I know it's short and has no plot, but I needed somewhere to put this, to put my thoughts.

I understand where your coming from. When I read this it seemed like it could be a poem. I've read a few that give off this same feeling. You are good at capturing the atmosphere and emotion of what is happening and portraying it to the readers.
