The Rothschild Avenue

The Rothschild Avenue

A Poem by Haim Kadman
"

A night visit to a famous avenue in a certain city.

"

Last night I've visited

The Rothschild Avenue

In Tel Aviv.

my home town.

I was born there

At the Hadassa hospital

Which doesn’t  exist

anymore…

In Balfour  steeet

next  to the Avenue

They 've turned it

Into a high school

By now…

It was a nostalgic visit,

but  I've some rights

haven't  I?

Compared with those

young punks who've

settled there

In tents given to them

Scot free…

What 're they after,

fame…?

Don't  make me laugh,

they'll be forgotten

In a day or two.

Would they form

a political movement?

What do they know?

What  have they

to offer

to the public?

NADA!!!

Nothing at all!

It just a bit of

commotion,

to be heard, seen,

 reach the headlines;

without  a clear goal,

without  knowing

where it would lead

them, and the damage

It would cause.

your poem strikes my center~ I remember on my last visit to MagyarOrszag~my hometown~Papa~ had shifted from the care of her original people into the hands of the lost young and confused middle aged~ the stone and mortar however hold the imprints of all the humans who ghost through the sideways of what is giving a momentary glimpse into what was~
beautifu~strong~nostalgic mood you create here~
