Warrior Poet Zen 1-1

I think of that well-known phrase about the rose and time.

We should go beyond that simple act in our downtime.

To stop and only smell the rose may be sublime.

However, we should endeavor more than a clever rhyme.

It is our pleasure and duty to become that rose in our lifetime.

"We should endeavor more than a clever rhyme" and yet, much of the time, clever rhymes are what bring out great things in poetry. I suppose that means the best poets don't try to rhyme, or give people a message, it just happens that way. The best poetry is felt first by the poet himself before it ever appears on a page.

Yes, we as poets see things differently then others in this world. It is both a blessing and a curse. However, I cherish both aspects and would never want to lose my ability to find "meaning in the most peculiar places."
