A Demon

A Demon

A Poem by Heather

Can you feel that?

It’s creeping through me; pounding, clawing

Its way up my stomach into my chest.

It rages about in a wild fashion and screeches in frustration.

It’s that voice again, can’t you hear it?

Its chatter inside my brain -

It slams against my skull and chortles impishly at my displeasure.

It’s me in there, except it’s not me but it is.

Its voice, my voice, are one.

It yanks out all my insecurities and drags them into view.

It’s all consuming - to be rid of it!

Its life cleaved from my own,

It dies and leaves me.

Then what should I be left with but loneliness?

Maybe there’s one in you, too.

'Maybe there's one in you, too.' I loved that connection. There certainly is one in me.
Beautifully written and descriptive, really relatable. Well done!

Thank you : )
Loved the imagery you used. It was almost terrifying. It's true everyone has a demon inside them fighting to be released.

Creepy... but really well written! Made my skin crawl :D I like the feeling of the poem, it's strong and makes you think about the message in it. I can also relate in a way. I love the playfulness of the words, that makes the reader all confused but interested at the same time. And that ending line! Well put, good job! :)
