The War

The War

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

Is it over? Is it done? Or has it only just begun?

"

Darkness and light
Wrongs not made right
Hopelessly devoted to night
Locked away in stone towers
Thoughts of the fight
And memories, memories, memories of you

Mourning bird calls
Echoes in the halls
And midnight falls

Retell the stories
Leave all the lies
No glorified heroes at the end of time

Unveil the truth
Don’t mislead our naïve youth
The story of the rise and fall
The story of us all

Hearts trapped in never ending time
Eternal darkness, petrified

The war, the war
Is it over? Is it done?
Or has it only just begun?

This poem is amazing. The rhythm, the flow, the way the ideas are put together -everything is done so well. I love it!

well said. I love the line "Mourning bird calls" because it can be read two ways.

War is always such a tragic subject and putting it down in words evokes such emotion. Great job.
