loving too much can make you hate.

loving too much can make you hate.

A Poem by Boyd Johnson

I really wish you could be here

to see her

she’s really a spittin image

wears her hair with the same twist

the same color

the same shade

I think I could be swayed

into the exorcising demons

you left behind as seeds

growing

growing

growing

leaving harrowed soul as they feed

I really wish you could be here

to see her

how unlike you she is.

how unmoved

her faith is.

cynic

is a word foreign to her

lord knows what she suffers me for

you’ve heard me call god a b*****d

but lord I wish you could see her.

when she steals the smile you gave me once

from the mantle ive placed it on

and wears it around the house.

when she looks up at me

as we conjugate the verb.

you must know the smile

I really wish you could be here

to watch me kill an innocent

with the same smile you bear

the one that gets you what you want

apparently

you’re not as unique and important

as I thought you were

I really wish you could be here

to see me breakdown like this.

this is awful.
