Prayer to the Furies to Right a Wrong

Prayer to the Furies to Right a Wrong

A Poem by Hypnos

I call to the Furies, the kindly Erinyes
who will not bear that justice remain undone,
who will not suffer the evildoer to go free,
who will not allow him to enjoy the reward
of his crime. Gracious goddesses, you know the pain
of a wrong unavenged, you know the wrath
of an innocent injured, you know the heart
of one who has suffered and seen the guilty
escape the judgment of men. Revered ones,
Eumenides, I call to you for retribution!

We could re-learn so much studying the myths of old, the concepts we once felt important enough to put into our religious thoughts. The righting of wrongs. The different forms of love. The sun that rises and gives us life and the waters that flow and sustain it. The avenging of injustice against the weaker. People still see this as a color struggle, but it is much bigger than that. It is a power thing. The power equation has gotten way out of hand. Not just in this case; in several others, as well. We attack common sense in the name of big profit, and wonder why we are left in a vacuum. We could use some of the od, gods to replace the one we have created that levies such injustice in his name.

This is a wonderful call. Great work, Hypnos! Keep them coming. When I read them, it's like I pray, too.

"Gracious goddesses, you know the pain of a wrong unavenged..."

Yes...a wrong unavenged can hurt.
So can holding a grudge. The God I worship teaches us forgiveness...not for the sake of the one who did the wrong, but for our own sakes...to rid ourselves of the horrible need we seem to have for vengeance.
Of course, I do not know the details of your friend's troubles...but my own prayer is that he...and you
...find peace in your hearts.

(Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay.)

excellent prayer for someone who has been wronged and feels empathy for those who have been wronged and hurt as well.

In this unjust word, perhaps the Fries are all we have left to serve the victims and punish tne oppressors.
