I Suppose

I Suppose

A Poem by Erin
"

Emotional Rants on Destiny. You Can't Run from the One.

"

I'm cold;
Lips chapped, skin scratched, bruised--

ego.
It's quiet,

here.
The tread on my sneakers

worn to a thread.

My feet are closer to the groud

with each step.

I am closer to realization

with each step.

I cease to step.
Epiphany.

A bright light,

A sudden clearing:

You never wanted me, did you?
You never wanted me at all?
You never wanted me.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Hindsight is

20/20.

Humiliation is

Forever.

Throwing myself at you,

Wasn't the best idea,

I suppose.

Maybe I should disappear--

Hiatus;
Sabbatical;

Sick Leave;

Just Leave.
Frankly, It's just too hard, with you here.

But is it so wrong,

So terribly wrong,

That I still want you?

What will become of my affections?
Are you not the one?
The Only?

Doesn't exist,

I suppose.

But!
But, we always meet.

Always.

We go in circles,

And find ourselves again.

I find myself,

Again.

Again in this situation,

Twelve, Sixteen, Twenty.....

Age doesn't matter.
There's only been you.

Me,

Oh, so persistent.

Fine!

If you don't want me,

SAY IT.

I dare you.

I f*****g dare you.

But you won't say it.
You can't say it.

Because you can't say what isn't true.

I suppose.

I suppose--

I suppose we're through.

'Til next time.

Wow girl, this sounds so much like something I would write, down to the style and wording and everything. Oh how I can relate. I love this part:
Hindsight is
20/20.
Humiliation is
Forever.

Dang if that isn't ever the truth when you are mistaken by unreturned feelings. Nicely done!

What a roller coaster of emotions and dead end thoughts that always end the same.... with heartache. Wonderful poem !!
