Mr Fire Escape Man

Mr Fire Escape Man

A Poem by Rose
"

What I go through every night.

"

I wish you could see what I see,

I wish you could see his face;

If you knew what he tells me,

You'd hold me close and pray.

I wish you could hear what I hear,

If only you heard his plans,

If you heard what he made me do,

You'd never touch my hands.

I wish you could feel what I feel,

Can you feel his fingers?

They poke my bones throughout the night;

They fill me up with hate and spite.

But of course you cannot see him,

You cannot feel or hear;

You think that he's not real,

But I know that he is.

This is the bogeyman in one of his most subtle and disturbing guises. Mr Fire-Escape Man climbs into one's psyche rather like one imagines him to climb in through the window at night. It is a great title. It has a ring of innocent charm about it (as though he is one of the forgotten Mr Men), and yet ultimately it represents a euphemism for something far more evil.
This is a very good piece of work. It has its own identity, and the creeping sensation of the concept is very effective. Disturbing is the best description, but that goes without saying I think - since he is real.

The symbolism here is striking, as are the things written in-between the lines. The pain and chaos that fire can bring is well represented here - fire destroys to allow the creation of something younger and stronger.

Also using the senses - sound, touch, sight - really add an engaging element to every line, so that we can see in our minds eye what you experience

Another great, fascinating poem, Rosy! *favouites*

From the title you had me hooked. An excellent poem. I love the fact that there's no complete rhyme scheme, it really seems to define the poem's tone. If you're only eleven, you've got a heck of a lot of promise. Keep it up.

I have to admit...this one gave me shivers! It was another well writen and very visiual piece. It reminds of the tales told, of the monster under the bed, the eyes in the closet and the boogey man.
It matters not if they are of dream or reality...the fear that comes when they come is very real to those that see them.

Great Ink Rosy!
Hugs!
