The Beauty of the Lord

The Beauty of the Lord

A Poem by Ian Craven

Behold the beauty of the Lord
He is wrapped in light with no shifting shadows >James 1
My Amazing Blazing God you are my all in all
You are the Light of lights, the living Word of God >John 1
Your clothing’s white as snow with a gleaming glory glow > Daniel 7
If I’m washed whiter than snow, I know I’ve touched your cloak >Psalms 51
Your thrones a flaming fire, will you lift me higher > Daniel 7
You seat me by your throne with a cup I do not know >
I do not ask to be above you, but how must I know you
You are lifted higher than the Heavens and yet you call my name >
The most that I can say is thank you that I’m redeemed by your great name
Your blood is the price you paid for me; you shed it all to give me victory
I have nothing to give but my heart; it doesn’t shine without your part
From your side poured living water, maybe if I soak my heart there it will grow larger
A larger heart is the only way I can keep your precepts all the day
Take me where you will lead me and allow me never to wonder where you will not see me
By your throne is just fine, but I am just wanting to know how I can fly
If I can fly to you, it will be like an eagle
I will soar in your grace and thank you for your mercy
If I should run to you, that is what I am already doing
Whether I run or fly, one thing I ask of you my Lord, is to always keep me by your side
I love you because you first loved me, that’s how it is and you planed it to be
You are my heavenly father without a doubt; if I had any other he would not do for long
But you, the Everlasting Father is the one for whom I long.
You are diamonds and jasper, the reflection of silver and gold, but you are more than wisdom or the knowledge of long ago.
You are many things that cannot be described, but to know you are my father is enough for me to realize. You are a being of untold glory; someday I will see you and you will tell me the story.
