A Poem by icaros13
"

a tribute, but its not very good. it needs some work

"
she tried to be
a blues singer once
but it wasn't
the right color

at least that's
what the mountain
told her

it said
wild roses
don't come
in blue

she stopped singing
until the whippoorwill
taught her its song

i feel like i'm trying to sell a cheap knock-off... Emily Burns is the Queen of Lonesome. I sometimes read something I've written and realize it sounds like I'm trying feebly to be like her...

I love it! Don't be surprised if I quote you. 'She tried to be a blues singer once but it wasn't the right color' I love that line, along with wild roses don't come in blue.

I think this is very good, like the first verse, and the whippoorwill, which I assume is a wild bird, so you did fine here, so no knock-off....
