The Banyan Tree

The Banyan Tree

A Poem by icelandicblue
"

Picture of Bridge St., Hobe Sound, Florida

"

The Banyan tree
does call to me;
to lie beneath her sultry shade
to be protected in her glade.

Symmetrical and staid is she
a softly swaying majesty,
amid the palms and scruffy pines
a beauty rare and quite refined;

where dryads all do seek to be
though today she sings for me
to lie below her verdant sky
caressed by whispers of her sighs

This place is hallowed, blessed be
a hidden treasure's fantasy
a painted jewel of emerald green
standing proud, this noble queen.

Banyan, A race track in Fl., Calder, owned by one of the Minnesota Mining founders, Had a beautiful Big Banyan Tree ,odd some good horses thought it was enchanted ,or a bugger lived in it ,because they would give it a good look then squirt away from it. Heels ,down , head up as I ride by. Smile ,I like your Banyan Tree.

Thanks, this tree was in Florida too. I wish I was sitting under it today- it's cold here.

Thank you so very much, I appreciate it.
Very beautiful write and insight into your heart with this wonderful tree. I love poems about things in nature, there are so many treasures our Mother has put here for us to find, to teach us, to calm us, to help us see the true reality. Nature is what we need now we need to spend time there to calm us and to heal us as we come into this New Way ahead. It is beautiful how you put how she stood out from everything else and called to you. I really liked the description of her singing to you and caressed by whispers of her sighs. thank you for writing this.

This is a very lovely poem and very well written. Reads smoothly both in thought and in voice. The Banyan tree is a tree of much legend and lore and you have done it great justice in this poem. Great writing.
