Requiem For A Dead Poet

Requiem For A Dead Poet

A Poem by ice
"

A poem about my muse that died of breast cancer, and a poem by her.

"

Bubble poem....by Janet Gordon
.
A bubble drifts
through a daydream,
captures a moment
inside.
Rises on currents
of laughter,
then bids the world
good-bye.
.

Requiem For A Dead Poet
*
The battle is over.
Gone is the pain..
And fear of the reaper
Who cut her life short,
With the blade of his sythe.
*
Now,
She is everywhere
Always far-
Always near.
If I listen close
I can hear her voice,
Whispering poems
In the lyrics

Of breeze's.

*

From a bright, safe place
Free of pain and fear
Comes odd music,
Played on Aeolian harp's,
That are strung,

With the strings of her heart.
*

I hear a voice
That sings,
"Come greet me"
"Say me your poems"
"I can hear"

"don't worry"

"I am always near"
*
In a field of dreams

I see her face,
In the bracts

Of strange flowers.
*

She is them,
And they know me.

Petals beckon
And I begin
To say her,
Words
In the language of a poet..
*
Spirit's can be shy,
Their earthly bodies, hide.

But the bridge cannot block
My eyes from the shadow
Of my once-alive muse,
That will always be

Standing on the other side.

 *
She is a flower,
Among many flowers
That all bend
To drink life....
From my tears-falling
Showers.
*
White lily,
I beg
Be gay-
Refreshed
By these love rains,
Forever and today--

*

Be happy among
The constant joyful's
Introduced to you

By death,
As forever friends.

*

I beg you
Dance with them

Laugh with them

Smile with them
Now that you are bereft
Of suffering;
Rid of that vulgar thorn

That impaled your chest,

Relieved of human pain....

Author's Note

This poem was written as a tribute, for a dear friend, who was my muse, who encouraged me to write poetry, and not only read it...she told me I could do it, I didn't believe her, but she persisted.. I am glad she did. She died in 2003, after a long battle with breast cancer....

I have added a poem of hers, before mine...A short but excellent poem..both in meaning and form..it explains how she felt when she was alive...hope you enjoy both
Peace to all

This is so deeply moving... powerfully profound and beautiful.. My heart grew quiet, listening to your dear friend's words, and then drifting through yours... reflections of her life. Thank you for sharing something so personal.
