tears

this one's older, but just as pleasant

today is the first day of summer vacation
and it is raining.
i wish i could cry the way the earth did
i wish there was a warning
dark clouds and dark skies
i wish i could have my own thunder
and my own lightning.
instead of soggy pillows and loud sobbing
instead of red eyes and glowing cheeks.
instead of saying my tears were ugly
how instead of how beautiful they can be
how beautiful her face turns dead
and her eyes become glass marbles
how beautiful she grips her pillow
how beautiful her throat hurts
and her chest heaves
her breath is shaky
and her mind is dancing in the distance
how beautiful
