Two Voices

Two Voices

A Poem by Jess Rose

Stone Walls
Cold and Thick
Made of dirt and sturdy brick
What’s inside? Riches galore?
Love? Magic?
Even More?
I’ve wandered the earth but,
What’s inside those mysterious walls of brick?
Oh what a curious sigh from the voice on the outside.

Stone walls
Cold and Thick
Made of dirt and sturdy brick
What is beyond?
All I have known,
The sky above and the earth below
Ground worn thin from pacing feet
Is there no one to hear my sobbing?
Oh what a mournful cry from the voice on the inside.
