David and His Little Lambs

David and His Little Lambs

A Poem by Deidre A. H.
"

don't fight me little lamb/or the rod I use to guide you/will be the weapon to make you bleed [lyrics]

"

I can't take it!
every night the moon
screams its cold pain
stars scatter across the heavens
hotly drinking its tears
quenching bloodthirsty nights

[chorus]
drink up!
it's the sacrificial blood
wake up!
I'll skin the lies off your back
hold up!
you're screaming out of tune
pay up!
we all have to die someday
and your time has come

I'll take you where the grass grows green
and sparrows sing
and flowers bloom and bleed then die
every night the children cry
how's that for your promised land?
don't fight me little lamb
or the rod I use to guide you
will be the weapon to make you bleed

[chorus]

Drink up! (Wake up!)
Hold up! (Pay up!) [x5]

pity your land withered and dried
sorrow for your failing life
no rain blessing from the sky
baking your body as you die

[chorus]

It was an interesting read. I liked it quite a bit. I particularly like the biblical references in it. I really hope that one day I get to hear the finished product! I'm sure it'll make one awesome song

It is a song, which will be well completed by its appropriate music.

I would like to hear how it will sound

am i correct in assuming that these lyrics are *not* for an acoustic group?

interesting lyrics. they are a bit to, erm, *out there* for my taste, though i can write some pretty strange stuff from time to time. i think i need to hear the finished product with the band to really say anything about it.

you know, john lennon said that, when he first read the lyrics to "she loves you," with the "yeah, yeah, yeah's," he thought it was bloody awful. but when you got the voices and the instruments and such, it works.
