Aah, Dinner!

Aah, Dinner!

A Poem by Deidre A. H.
"

Demonic eye shine in the black/Predator in waiting....

"

Demonic eye shine in the black

Predator in waiting

Barest whisper of claws in fabric

Lax yet acutely aware . . .

Flicker!

Unnecessary light

Clunky footfalls of the pet come home

Pause for a luxurious stretch

Pretending to see nothing"

But wait

Be it the seductive murmur of the can opener?

Dignity is for those willing to wait!

Trot-trot-trot toward the pet

Unabashed rubbing against their legs

The smell of turkey! Salmon wafting in the breeze!

I must have it"

Nyow! Nyow! Nyow!

Lapping up that sweet, sweet gravy

Purring as I saunter to bathe in sunlight"

Aah, dinner.
