Combust and Collide

Combust and Collide

A Poem by ilurvekinilaw
"

This was written for an ex. I have no idea if he'll stumble across this. Lol.

"

You are a lit fuse,

The spark silently slithering

Then hissing into a crescendo

With all the notes tangled

In the detonation of who you are,

Who you conspire to be.

Your match has been struck

On the same asphalt

Where I once laid a wreath of oaths

Strung with fragrant poetry.

In a swift flash,

You and I could only sieve through the rubble,

Mirthless in our understanding

That a heady mix of promises drenched in scotch

Could just ignite like daylight before dawn.

Only then could ashes fill our mouths

And leave us motionless until they sift us

From above.

you capture something most poets fail to execute and it is brevity.

i really really love everything there is about this poem and it's safe to say that you are a merciless master of your craft.

every line just looks divine along with the others and the presentation is superb.

The metaphor, the style, the flow, the wording, is all awesome. I fail to find any flaws in this piece. Very well done.

I'm not particularly fond of writing. I just see it as a cathartic way of purging myself (whatever that means). I prefer having total strangers comment on my work rather people I know. I have no idea .. more..
