God's Canvas

God's Canvas

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

The creation of the world.

"

He sat at his canvas, paint brush poised,

waiting for inspiration.

He smiled as he took bright yellow paint with a hint

of orange and made the golden sun with luminous rays.

Light blue and dark blue made the sky, with white

fluffy clouds floating around, this he called day time.

His mouth spreaded into a smile as he created different

forms of birds flying gracefully high in the sky.

Some landed on the huge trees with bold trunks.

Green, red, yellow, orange and brown leaves popped

out in vibrant color, giving the brids shelter.

He sat back and reviewed his work.

He took some black paint and made the night

with splashes of yellow to make billions of stars,

and a moon to light up the darkness.

Below the sky he painted earth.

He added rocks, green patchy grass.

Flowers of various colors sprouted from

the rich soil.

Rainbow colored butterflies dashed about,

along with other bugs and insects.

He made big massive oceans.

The waves roared high, splahing  upon

the sandy beaches.

Deep below the surface he added all

sorts of fish to swim about.

Feverishly he worked until he created humans.

White, black, mexican, indian, all races he formed.

He sat back to look at his pride and joy, the world.

He was a happy father of all creators until...........

He looked below and saw the destruction,

people fighting, killing, hating, stealing.

It was more than he could bare.

love was lost amongs them.

Tears streamed down his sadden face, heart shattered.

He sat at his canvas, paint brush poised.

He looked at the world he had created, being destroyed

by the hands of his humans.

He smiled as he decided to paint the end of time.

It's beautiful. I love it.

Beautiful and powerful writing. I don't think God will get joy out of the end of days, however. I think he will destroy with great sadness the beauty he tried to give us. Just think, if you had taken your soul and created a work of art. How would you feel destroying it? Just a thought.

Great idea and way of expressing the Creation. Did you mean the paint brush was poised? Intereswting and surprinsing ending. I like it.

Great "God" poem, the colors, flowers and the animals come alive in your words. Once in a while, we discover that under some master painters more recent work lies a painted over masterpiece. Perhaps that will happen to us and some future visitors to Earth will wonder about our existence. God however tells us that even if there are just a few righteous people, he will spare us.

Wonderfully told. Sometimes I wonder if He regrets the whole creation process and made another better world someplace else..Valentine

I love the whole concept of title and how you described each thing God created. Beautifully done.
