His Wrath

His Wrath

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

A wife in a abusive marriage!

"

Bruised and battered from your fury wrath,

I pray for deliverance.

You spew out how disgraceful I am with wicked lips.

Love for me has vanished from your heart.

Did you ever love me?

You seize me with such potency.

I beg for mercy.

Your wrath is bountiful, never runs dry.

Your countenance mirrors your true self.

Enlighten me where I went wrong.

your eyes show silent laughter.

Evil flows through your veins,

spilling out like lava erupting from a volcano.

Oppressions weigh heavy on my heart.

Meditation keeps me going,

strengthens me to face each day.

But I'm growing tired, weak,

I want to rest.

Sometimes I beg for the sleep of death.

This poem contains so much emotion its really hard to articulate. Make be wanna go beat the hell out of a guy that would do this to a female. it makes me wanna cry out with a mad fury.. very emotional poem indeed

Definitely a well-written piece that really packs a lot of emotion. Such a sad, sad topic. You did a great job to bring the issue to light and to show what a living hell abuse can be... both from the physical and emotional aspects. Well done.

I rather agree with Bette.
Where the main character has gone wrong is in believing the guff and nonsense that is spouted at us from birth re male and female.
Violence against a person harms the confidence and lessens the ability to say: Bugger this, I'm off. Usually there will be an economic tie that also makes it difficult. In such circumstances Death appears as the refuge.
Good modern poetry tackling the other side of the Moon in June and My Heart Skips stuff that often on this site appears as no more than a writer's masturbation via the pen.
Well done.

This is a very powerful poem! Such strong emotions that flow together to create a masterpiece, full of excitement and pity for the narrator. Great job!

Maybe the evil person needs to find death in their sleep? I can't imagine a life where I had to live in fear of someone like this, I just can't imagine it so I guess I couldn't except it if anyone ever tried it. yes a deep topic but you did great with it.
