Thos weathered gate can tell us many things. Empty house, abandoned garden, survival through the elements of nature and much more. Powerful brevity here my friend.

Yes, it has stories yet to tell. So many hands and hearts have touched it. Tolkien knew. Beautiful poem my friend. A multifaceted gem.
