Sailing Smooth

Sailing Smooth

A Poem by The Last Wayward Son
"

Just testing myself, to see if I can make a decent rhyme still.

"
Once again I find myself in a stare-down with life
With only hope to get me through this world's strife
And while my methods might be crude
I've made it this far with only my fortitude
Even if I end up nowhere at the end
I'll go there proud, I never had to pretend
So on I go, sailing smooth through a sea of discrimination
Trying my damnedest to beat it's abomination
Discouraged as though I might get in my travels
I still remain hopeful as the plot unravels.

To feel the love of those you wish to see clearer
First you must pass the test of the man in the mirror
An endless struggle with self, with time as your foe
Is the only answer for any hope to grow
But I say this much to those in disbelief:
Give up on yourself, and happiness is forever brief
But even surrounded by this storm
I sail smooth, knowing that I have kept my form.
