Runnin' Down A Dream

Runnin' Down A Dream

A Poem by The Last Wayward Son
"

The first of many "pieces" based on either a song, or it's title. This one's based on the title of a Tom Petty song of the same name.

"
Let be known that while I have endured much in this world
But I have yet to give up on my quest
As I shall always believe that I will only find peace
In another person's arms
Such a path may wind, twist, and turn
But no matter how long my travel down the road of Life
I cannot give up on finding that happiness
Too many people you see give in
To accept the middle ground before happiness
But to them and everyone else I say
That the middle ground is only the point of no return
Stopping there is to forsake everything you've fought for to this point
And it is from you I learn not to accept this fate
To never stop until I know my mission is complete
You can say what I ask is impossible
Or perhaps that Time will defeat me
It is to you that I say this:
If I do pass from this world before I find my treasure
I will pass without struggle or rage
For I know that I did everything I could
Fulfilling the aspiration to never give up
Do you think you can say that when your time is up?
So though I am only chasing a dream
As anyone will tell you,
A dream not worth fighting for is a dream not worth having.

Some of you might remember me from long ago. In a bit of rage, I deleted everything that was once here and closed the account, but that just makes it all the more entertaining, as now I can build it .. more..
