Cannibal Hands

Cannibal Hands

A Poem by Jacques - iNkwire
"

A poem about holding hands

"
My hands would like nothing more
Than to swallow yours whole
To lock their jaws
and refuse to let go

Though impossible,
my hands would persist
and take bites each day
from your palm or your wrist

If weathered from work
or soft from inaction
each state insufficient
to cease the attraction

Yet they've also a taste
for the things yours chew
The gnash of their fangs
would soften the food

Mine would be hunting
when yours are fatigued
Only as substitutes
as able yours seem

Those are things they've thought
Though this isn't the case
That's where they would be,
but it isn't their place

My hands can only prowl
maybe follow a scent
Then sit and wonder
Where the other two went

This is such a creative take on something as 'small' as holding hands! I enjoyed this and your more 'monstrous' / 'vicious' wording choices to express this action. I think most people might have first thought of obviously loving, soft and romantic sounding words if asked to write about holding hands.
Great work.

About
Hi. Most of my work is poetry, but I intend to put some stories out in the future. I write about what makes me feel strongly. This approach mostly results in romantic pieces, but I hope to branch o.. more..
