this is a 2009 movie i somehow
missed when it came out. it's the story of a young woman (christina
ricci) who is killed in a car accident and who's sent to a funeral home
run by mortician, liam neeson. the problem is, ricci's character doesn't
know she's dead and neeson's character has the gift of being able to
talk to the spirits of the deceased in order to usher them into
eternity. so, much of the movie is conversations between the two of them.
he, trying to convince her that she's really dead, and her not buying
the story. somewhere along the line, we start to believe that maybe she
is right and he's some sort of serial killer who buries people alive.
add her boyfriend, justin long, to the mix, who is also not convinced
she's actually dead, and you have a pretty interesting movie. not a
great film, but the acting is far above average, the story is original,
and it makes you think. good combination. oh... one other thing that may
be a plus for some and a negative for others..if nudity offends you,
don't watch this film. seems the dead folks in a mortuary don't wear
many clothes. christina ricci's never looked better. even if she is dead.
