“Hall ka kiya scene hai Chacha jaan…shaddi ka hall tou unki zimaidaari hai…humein mehndi ka aur valimay ka hall karna hai..new year sey pehlay pehlay hum baat kar letay hain” (What about hall Chacha jaan?...Shaadi’s hall is their responsibility…we have to book halls for Mehendi and Valima..We will book it before New Year.)

“Mehndi aur valimay dono k gymkhana book karwalo aaj hi” (Book Gymkhana for both Mehendi and Valima, today.)

“theek hai, phir main abhi jaata hoon, chay baj rahay hain, phone pe booking ki baat kartay kartay wahan pohchoon ga tou ziyada dair bhi nahi lagay gee.”(Okay, then I should go by now. It’s four right now. I will reach there while talking about booking on phone so that not much time wll be consumed)

“Sir Mehndi k liye humein Hall 2 chahiye hai, Mehndi 24 Maye ko hai”(Sir, I want Hall 2 for Mehendi. It is on 24^th of May.)

“Sorry sir 24 k humaray saaray hall book hain.”(Sorry Sir, all halls are booked for 24^TH of May.)

“Chalein ek kaam karein aap valimay k liye Hall 2 book karlein, Valima 26 maye ko hai”(Okay, then book Hall 2 for Valima. It’s on 26^th.)

“Phir aayein baat karletay hain.”(Then come with me Sir, to talk about it.)

After a long discussion of around half an hour the time and schedule was decided.

“Chaein theek hai sir, Shukriya sir. Baki details aap se phone pe discuss karta hoon.”(Okay Sir, Thank you. Other details I will discuss with you on phone.)

 The car then ran behind and stopped at HUMA LAWN where the function of MEHNDI was booked.

And on phone, the hall was booked in Nazimabad.

“Dekha main ne kaha tha na koi paabandi sey aaye ya na aaye par Fajahad bari pabandi sey aata hai” (See, I have said that somebody will come or not but Fajahad always come with punctuality), and the car was exact outside the market at 8.

The car then picked Marium, and travelled to the busy roads of Tariq road which had shops of clothing and shoes on both sides between the huge traffic and line of litter of sides.

While the women rushed in to select the suit, Fajhad at the same time went into the card shop to take samples.

“Chalein jee samples lay leeyein hain, ab chalte hain…Marium bhabbi humaray saath aayein gee?”(Okay, so samples are taken. Now we should go…Will Marium bhabbi come with us?)

“Okay tou cards chacha aap dekha lein Tariq road walay aur Nazimabad walay, aur dono dulha dulhan ko bolein jaldi sey decide kar lein. Takay hum jald az jald print kara kar rakh lein……Aur auntie kal kareegar aayein ge paint karne…aap bata dee jeeyein ga kiya kiya print kar a na hai…ab bacha khana tou who bhi abhi decide kar latay hain”(okay, so Chacha you see the cards both Tariq Road one and Nazimabad one. And ask both Bride and groom to decide fast so that we will keep it with us month before after printing…You please tell which should not be printed….Now food is remaining so it be decided now.)

“Haan bhai haan, aur nahi tou kiya, apni Chachi ko bulao, pooch kiya khaye gee mehndi aur valimay mein. Main Ali ko call karta hoon k who bhi decide karay….Sadaf ko bhi abhi call kartay hain aur tum apne ghar pe phone karo aur sub ko yahan bulao abhi.”(Yeah son yeah! Why not! Call your chachi and ask her what she will eatin Mehendi and Valima. I will call Ali that he should decide that now…Sadaf should be phoned now and you, phone at your place and call them here, now.)

The message was sent.

“Papa mehndi mein aap kachori, dahi baray, bailpuri, pani puri, halwa puri ka order dein dein. Lassi ya shake drink mein rakh dein aur kulfi meethay mein”(Papa, for Mehendi, place Kachori, Dahi Baray, Bail puri, Pani puri, Halwa puri for order. Lassi or shake should be placed in drink’s order aur Kulfi in sweet.), Sadaf said.

Farah told “Chachi jaan aap mehndi mein maalpooray zaroor rakh yein ga, maalpooray, arbi parathay, seekh kabab with poori, halwa puri, bun kabab, gulab jaman aur bus yahi.”(Chachi jaan put maalpooray in Mehendi’s food, maalpooray, Arbi parathay, Seekh kabab with poori, Halwa puri, Bun Kabab, Gulab Jaman and that’s it.)

Then the eyes stopped at Farkhanda “Haan Farkhanda tum batao kiya hona chahiye mehndi mein” (Yes Farkhanda, you tell what should be there in Mehendi’s menu.)
“Bhabbi main kiya batao, ghar k bachay jo bolay wahi hona chahiye, humein tou ek konay mein baithna asal mein tou yeh dhoom dharka daalein ge tou is liye Faraz aur Nida jo kahein ge wahi meri choice hai.”(Bhabbi, what should I tell, what the family’s children are saying, that should be in the menu. We have to sit in the corner of the hall. It is they who will being the real enjoyment so that is why what Faraz and Nida will say is my opinion too.)

“Faraz aur Nida hain kahan?” (Where are Faraz and Nida?)
“bhai sahab, dono office mein hain”(Both are in office.)
“Haan Faraz bata raha uss din k kaam ka kafi load hai….chalo theek hai…phone kab kaam aaye ga…Fajahad apne bhai bhabbi ko phone lagao tou..phone pe hum menu discuss karein ge”(Yeah! Faraz was telling that day that there is too much work in office…it is okay…when will phone comes in use…Fajahad, call your Bhai and Bhabbi…We will discuss menu on phone.)

The call was picked up and

“Hello Faraz beta, ammi ko tum sey baat karni hai” (Hello Faraz, your mother wants to talk to you.),
the phone was handed to her
“Hello Faraz..”, she walked away from crowd to a corner

“Jee bolein” (Yes say)

“Hum sub mhendi ka menu decide kar rahay hain, tum aur Nida bhi apni raye dou k khaanay mein kiya hona chahiye” (We are deciding the menu of Mehendi, you and Nida give your opinion what should be there in menu.)

“Main Nida ko phone deta hoon…Nida tumhari auntie is missing you, talk to her”(I give phone to Nida…Nida, your auntie is missing you, talk to her)

“Jee auntie, Asalam O Alaikum, aap kaisi hai”(Yes auntie, Asalam O Alikum, how are you?)

“Main theek hoon. Nida hum sub Ali ki mhendi ka menu decided kar rahay hain tou mashwara dou kiya rakhna chahiye”(I am fine. Nida, we are deciding menu of Ali’s Mehendi sogive suggestions about food)

“Aunte kuch halka phulka rakhna chahiye especially thailon wali cheezein jaisay ganay ka juice ho gaya, kheer ho gai meethay mein, cholay, khatay aloo, purian aur qourma ho jaye teekhay mein. Thanday mein drink sahi hai. Ice cream vanilla sahi rahay gee” (Auntie, mehendi should have light food items, especially hawkers’ one food like sugarcane’s juice, kheer in sweet, cholay, khatay aloo, purian and qourma in course. Cold drink is fine in drink. Vanilla is better in ice cream. )

“Chalo theek hai, Faraz ko phone dena” (okay, give phone to Faraz.)

“Jee bolein” (yes say)

“Tum batao kiya hona chahiye” (You tell what should be placed in menu.)

“Main batao ya Nida bataye baat ek hi hai” (Either me tell or Nida tell, it is same thing.)

“Theek hai”(okay)

The call was disconnected.

She conveyed their message.

“Theek hai jee..dulhay sahab ko batao! Yeh sub wahi decide karay ga k kiya hona chahiye…balkay ruko Fajahad ussay mashwara lo, decide main aur tum karein ge kiya hona chahiye..janta hoon apne sahab zaaday ko mhengi se mhengi cheez hi uthaaye ga” (okay… tell all of this to Mr.Groom! he will decide what should be in menu…Wait Fajahad, take suggestion from him. You and me will decide the menu..I know my son. He will select an expensive food.)

“Kashif sahab betay ka function hai tou beta hi decide karay ga k kiya hona chahiye khanay mein..jao Fajahad dulhay aur dulhan sey pooch kar aao kiya hoga khanay mein”(Mr. Kashif, it is son’s wedding so son should decide the menu..go Fajahad ask the bride and groom what should be the menu.)

The menu was made finally that night along with the menu of Valima too.
