Heart in your Hands

Heart in your Hands

A Poem by Katie Snyder
"

Stupid Teenage Relationships.

"

What possessed you to break my heart?
It’s tearing me apart

Why couldn’t you see?
Regardless it was gonna hurt me

I think I love you still.
Even though I know when I was with you, you saw her.
God, do you know how that feels?

I’m tired of all this. I’m going to put that out there.
Gonna put it out for you too see.
But you’re now oblivious to me

And my pain. This game. That’s been going on for years.
I’m tired of being your fallback string. Do you realize what you mean to me?

And I am over this. Thank god, you didn’t go for that kiss.
But god, I still love you. I still care. Though my heart’s still in… in your hands…

Summer… Romance….
My friends warned me, I didn’t listen.
Oh, how those eyes still glisten.

Seeing you makes my stomach drop.
To you I may be nothin’ but to me you mean a lot.

I can’t help but smile.
After you playin me for such a while.
My pride. My heart. I think that’s what’s hurting the most

And my pain. This game. That’s been going on for years.
I’m tired of being your fallback string. Do you realize what you mean to me?

And I, wanna cry, knowing that you are prospering. While I’m over here…
Silently suffering.

I still love. I love you. I still care… though my heart’s over there… in your hands.
