The break up

The break up

A Poem by Danny Sanchez

I no longer look at you the same
The anger that lingers inside of me fills my heart with pain
Conceptualized reasoning on why we should try
Forced intimacy and reconciliations instead of goodbye
My lips say I love you my heart disagrees
My brain replays the memories and argues her plea
It ended with the first lie you ever spoke
In that moment my trust in you had been revoked
From amazing to exhausting I still don't understand
I've learned to adjust and follow gods plan
Strength is being built with each day that passes
Heartache turned to wisdom makes for daily classes
Dreams of having your baby slowly faded
When I realized your perspective of parenting was jaded
Moving in opposite directions takes us further from our goal
As I nurture my purpose and center my being to become whole
You resist
As I insist
We're going no where fast
I'd love for you to come on this journey but you are now my past
