Just like a drug

Just like a drug

A Poem by A poet's heart

Have you ever met a person,
And thought they were a drug?
Been through rehabilitation
Out the hole that you just dug?

After some time, the thought of them,
No longer had affect?
But when the drug was tangible,
Began to get the sweats?

They're still a drug, that's what you've learnt,
You know for you they're bad,
But drugs are an addiction,
So the battle's always had.

Over time, the cravings lessen,
Until they're just a twinge,
But remember they're a drug addiction;
So easy to get unhinged.

Your addiction's now for life,
Whether you've dependency or not,
You always now must practice,
To avoid their luring hook.

'N don't be surprised, if some time,
Many years from now,
You feel a little ache and twinge,
And then you wonder how.

Don't doubt you're healed, you know you are,
But it's drugs we're talking here;
You've learnt to cope with the addiction,
'Cause the drugs won't disappear.

You know that you don't need them
'N want them? Course you don't.
But sometimes your body begs for them
Like they'd beg for dope.

I can relate.

I didn't think it ended too abrupt. But that's just me.
