Too Late

I clung to him desperately, "Don't leave. Please. They'll come back if they do..."
He stroked my hair. "You'll be okay, love. They haven't bothered you while I was here." He kissed by forehead.
"That's because they're scared of you. They won't go near me when you're around because they know that you can hurt them."
"Lynsy. Relax. I'll just be a few minutes. There's something I have to take care of. Just.... Here." He turned on the light, closed the windows. "Better?"
I nodded a little, watching him.
"Good. Now five minutes. That's all it'll take. I promise."
"O-okay..."
He disappeared instantly.
Looking around the room, I started to believe Gabriel. In the light, it didn't seem like anything would happen. And they had left me alone for quite a while... Maybe they moved on? Whatever happened, they're not here. Be grateful. I allowed myself a small smile of satisfaction, then I closed my eyes, planning to make good use of my bed tonight.
And then I heard a creak. I glanced at the clock- only two minutes until Gabe was back.... I could last. I can last.
Another creak. Then a footstep. Oh, dear gods... Help me. There was nothing I could do... If I ran, they would grab me. If I stayed they would grab me... Gabriel, where the hell are you...? Come back... save me. My savior didn't appear.
"Say your prayers." A voice hissed. "You're going to need them when we're through with you."
Hands picked me up, dragged me out the window. They were everywhere, beating me.
"You'll be with us forever. It is your destiny to die at our hands. You've avoided us much too long."
A minute until Gabe returned.
