For comes this night

For comes this night

A Poem by Jack...
"

A full moon brings out some very strange things

"

For Comes This Night

Jack Ivey

Of this - the darkest night doth howl

Lest screams of feature bear thy truth

Lone among the silhouettes

Dare fall - of thee doth cast the proof

Night skies aglow - this wicked glare

Awash against my tethered brow

Formed of such in honest fare

To call me - oh I beg thee now

Whence the moon so full of hate

Breathes this life into my soul

Bringing forth the sad debate

Lost within - I can’t control

The taste - O’ blood of somber youth

In fear - the sweetest of them all

This hunger speaks in foreign tongue

Till shame does lift of stories tall

Does this shadow paint thy death?

O’ of days so numbered few

Cast thy waning final breath

This - the last thing you shall do

For comes this night - the scheduled beast

Beneath the light of blood lit moon

Mere simple flesh to be my feast

O’er found - thy sorted soul now due

Of this - the darkest night doth howl

As evil courses every vein

Beware the sound the wolf does wail

For he shall meet you here again

no problem keep up the good work
Although it had a decent rhyme scheme, I think the language was little too forced. I always find it hard to use old English in my poems which is why I avoid it. Nonetheless, your effort was not for naught. Although I didn't enjoy the language that much, it didn't stop me to like it. Me kinda likey.

A heartbreaking and beautiful piece of poetry.
What I really like is that you take the time jumps
So clearly and it shows, in a few lines, so crisp and well.
The symbolism is associated with life and death,
Reaches beyond, goosebumps here! Perfect!

Nice work! Very menacing. The suspense leaving the reader waiting..... with the threat of the wolf who shall meet us again.

I like your Shakespearian English, Jack; it gives more depth to this creepy poem.

Thanks Marie.
Getting inside the dreaded werewolf, as if in an effort to explain its urgings. Well done, if a bit Biblical in its 'thy's' and 'doth'; words I try to avoid like the plague.
I notice you've missed one of WC's little " marks - in verse 4 line 2.

Thank you sir. I think I have it fixed now.
WC and its wicked formatting
Won't recognize a double dash
Inserting the dreaded quotation mark
Infecting pieces like a rash

xD Told you I don't do rhyme!

I love the dark, gothy feel to this, Jack...it's so sinister. I've seen wolves...they always make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. When I lived in Alaska, I feared the wolves more than the bears. Really good write, this.
