Nevermore

O’ foe, this night of grisly scene

Dancing fro o’er silhouettes

Hidden mist O’ wicked gleam

Of vision that this mind regrets

 

This skin of almost death defies

As bristles ‘trude in every pore

A’ tear along a tortured thigh

O’ scent of blood to be absorbed

 

Within my mouth the ache it barks

O’ tight my chest to soon explode

When hunger pierces through the dark

And sins of mothers bear their lode

 

I howl, for whence this night hath come

A’ feast doth lie in vision’d wait

Still pieces of the rising sun

I hope to see beyond the gate

 

This moon, my demon in the sky

For change doth come to whet the score

I pray the day that I may die

And live this evil, nevermore

"once upon a keyboard bleary
While I read work dull and dreary
And strove to forget the stanzas that fogged my mind and made ears roar
Suddenly, I came to Jack's page
Emulator of a finer age
And thought of earlier, sorrier scribbles not again, nay, Nevermore!
As though they were a mist, they vanished
(Would I could have sooner banished
Them from my memory, with their grammatic gaffes galore!)
And I read then with much gladness
Poetry which assuaged my sadness!
Longing then for longer days in which this scribe to read the more...
But Alas!, am limited yet to these lonely twenty-four!

Last night I jumped empty handed into the void and went to a local place called the Mercury Cafe and did a public reading of the same piece at open mic night.

I popped my Spoken Word Art cherry, so while awkward, uncomfortable, and terrifying it was also a great ride.

I'll bet it was fun and I'll bet you did great. Did you get a good response to your poem? So you live in that area in think you said on the radio, correct?

About 1/2 of the cloud clapped with sincerity...They were mostly speaking in a different style...like wrap, or like "60's" beat poets. Very cool stuff
