Photograph

A Poem by Jack...
"

I see it everyday, smiling at me

"

Photograph

Before me I find

a photograph,  a rectangle piece of memory

of a time before

or

of the day before,

merely a moment in time, forgotten

perhaps

 ~

Staring at me openly,

a glossy reminder, fashioned of indifference,

asking nothing

yet

questioning my every thought,

or so it seems

to me

 ~

Smiling,

as if she knows me, beckoning

with soft eyes, pleading eyes

upon

my needful gaze,

focused

and dreaming…always dreaming

She doesn’t speak,

still I hear her every word,

silently whispering,

softly

singing sweetly

to my soul

which somehow understands

~

Beauty in black and white

drenched of full color

in my mind

and

my heart, which beats faster,

pounding in my chest,

longing to escape…to be with her

~

If only I could step inside,

become one with the film

altering what I see

only

to touch her, know that she is real,

feel her breath upon my face,

know her scent

~

Before me I find

a photograph,  a square piece of memory

of a time before

or

of future fantasies,

about to unfold on the pages

of the album holding my destiny

Love the picture. My brother-in-law has classic cars, he would love that one. Also the thoughts reminded me of my husband whom I lost last July..nice write. Valentine

I love to make photo albums. Remind me of all the good time and memories. Photographs for me hold so much memories. They are a wonderful thing. I take pictures ever where I go, I wanted to be a photographer but now I'm going to be a counsellor. This was amazing, Jack!

So beautifully written, well done my friend, amazing work

Thanks so much. I always appreciate you.
aww.. I could relate and feel the pain as one does when looking at a picture of a loved one, gone from us either for ever or a long period of time. What would we do without dreaming ?
Lovely thoughts of good times gone past never leave the soul and help us deal with the absence.
Thanks for beautiful share

Thank you so very much for your kind words Maryam.
Oh this one hit me where I live. I have had the opportunity to get collections of photos from my family - a few going back to the early 1900's late 1800's as well as photos from my child hood - and I find looking at some of those pictures absolutely fascinating. They conjure stories....
Loved this.

Thanks Tammy, happy it made you smile.
I really enjoyed the poem Jack.
It is amazing how much of our soul we can understand when we reminisce...
I have left little pieces of my heart in memories as well. I wonder if I will ever be able to pick up all those pieces and rebuild the puzzle some day...?
Lovely poem, fortells a publication I think.

Thank you so much sir, I appreciate your kind words.
Reading my mind again, are you Jack? Lol... those darn photographs will snag the heart every time. Should burn mine, like I said I was going to do eons ago... along with all the writings. Haha - who am I kidding? Can't get rid of any of it! This poem rang true on so many levels.

Thanks so much my dear friend. Happy you could relate.
Haunting and thought provoking, nice work! Indeed a photograph can be many things, but sometimes thay are the only thread that links us with someone important from our past, and you described that perfectly.

Thanks so much Keith. I appreciate your comments
Nice poem, Jack. I love to look at photographs also. They carry different stories and memoirs we cannot forget. They remind me of who I am and who I am with.

In your poem, you are having a fantasy out of the picture, wishing that she is real. You don't know whether it is your past or your future memories carried or to be carried by that photograph.

Nice poem.
