Take from me life

Take from me life

A Poem by Jack...
"

This is how a good friend should react when a friend is in pain.

"

 Take from me life

Mortar and rubble…these chains they are tethered

shackles…they tear at my flesh…at the bone

scars of the helpless on blame bleeding courses

beaten…I fight for I must take you home

Firmly so bound…lashed of fear spent for crying

fight as I may, through this pain so intense

hearing your screams…tears now flooding my prison

seeping through bars carved of rusted expense

Struggling…I plead with the voice of a madman

stained filthy metal encasing my dreams

sever my hands…if required to reach you

give up my life but set your heart free

Forsake you…I’ll not for my promise is always

retreat…never once did the thought cross my mind

die…if I must but  to wrap you completely

breathe…my last breath only given the time

Take from me life…I’ll not need it without you

Consume this…my strength, when your weakness does call

Forage my dreams…for of you they are endless

This that I am…I shall give to you all

Thank you so much.
Friendship call for exactly this - which is why most people have many acquaintances and, if they are lucky, one true friend. A very emotional write.

Thank you so much Constance. I appreciate you stopping by.
Damn, Jack! You're a good friend to have that's for sure. Seldom do we find friends that will forge this strong of a bond and mean it through and through. As a service member, we kind of take this way of thinking for granted because we clearly will lay down our lives for strangers and loved ones. However, I also find that the friendship binding is strong and when push comes to shove we are a force to be reckoned with regarding ones we cherish. :)

I absolutely loved this piece. It speaks to my heart. How I feel about those that are dear to me. My loves stay with me forever. Friendships have been my family for many years and I hold each and every one of them to my core. There isn't anything I wouldn't do to be a rock for a friend or stand by them through the worst.

In my favorites and 100... stop speaking to my heart so much, Jack. I've been trying to put some things behind me and well, your writings bring what I miss to the forefront. Stop that!! lol...

i had to stop and breathe and read this again because the impact it had as you move down to in through the poem wow.. it's like a face full of realization.. that no matter what you stand by a wounded friend.
I'm not sure how literal the context is or if it possibly has some religious sentiments attached to it but it's one of the best pieces i've read. This is poetry I enjoy reading me because it has a seen effect on me. Excellent'o!

Thanks from one romantic to another. :)>
"To give his life for another"...
We can "give" our lives in meaningful ways each and every day.
Sharing a kind word and sharing our transparent truth with those who need us is a way of doing this.
Each poem can be a breath given to another.
We seem to think these grand offerings are rare, but I find them every single day as I read here. As I listen to the parents talk about the struggles to bring their children up, I see their very soul offered in every moment of worry.
When I see the retirees volunteer to give their time freely to the food bank, or the overworked executive spend hours helping organize an even for Rotary.
We free ourselves when we offer to remove the chains from our friends lives.

I enjoyed the this gift today Jack. Refreshing depth.

It's amazing how some people will put themselves out there for others, and then there are people that are just out to hurt another soul. This sound vaguely familiar, you are a Prince Jack, to me this is you trying to save someone from the pain and agony so they don't have to endure it, that's true love, that's what we do for people we truly cherish. This is affecting Jack, more than you know.
