Final Words

Final Words

A Poem by Jack...
"

What's final is final I guess

"

Final Words

Final words - left on the sleeve of a gabardine fabric

Penned with a tone of dismay

Conjured thoughts sending

Ideas still pending

Breaking this heart on display

Fooling not one but the many who see us

Keeping the peace if you will

Shattered glass slivers

In brittle felt shivers

glistening there on the sill

~~~~
Convincing myself not to want you
Hiding so deep in the mist
Changing the subject to miles instead
of longing the feel of your kiss
~~~~

Morning comes - stillness a blend of the moment

Gears tend to click in their time

Spinning directions

Of wondered affections

Clouds seem to sift through the blinds

Shadows are straining the view

Barren, yet leaves full in green

My head neath the pillow

To block out the willow

Now weeping the tears that I dream

~~~~
Opening up doors to the waiting
Humid the breeze ever stale
Swallowing pride in the lonely abyss
Facing the fact I have failed
~~~~

Spiders play - brushing the webs from my forehead

Losing the bounce in my step

Finding each crack

A broken push back

Debris in the caverns now swept

Clinging to what I remember

Feeling the touch of your skin

Affectionate bliss

The taste of your kiss

Never to know it again

~~~~
Darkness, the end of the alley
Dumpsters, a pale shade of blue
Searching for hope in the land of confusion
Lost and alone without you
Such sadness here, Jack. The finality of it all. The garbadine sleeve is great imagery. I can picture the words rolling off the fabric. (I love the word garbadine. It rolls off my tongue so well) Angi~
Thanks Angi
this is deep soulful writing. I am so possessive, so thick skulled - FInal doesn't always compute - and that's such a terrible thing. It takes great courage to write this way - to fail gracefully at such a deep deep love - and to admit that final is final - the pain in this is tangible - real
The antiphonal aspect of this - the little song after the dialogue - that was beautiful and mournful.
Thanks so much Tammy. I appreciate your kind reviews and your friendship.
Interesting form Jack. I really took my time to listen to the voice as I mulled the emotional lines and there is just something about these thoughts that really get under my skin. Not so much in a bad way, but they are to me words that are insidious. Thought provoking language to say the least.
Such absolute sorrow and grief bleed through this piece. The last stanza is perfect! You get the chilling sense of loss, confusion and loneliness. Great job.
Thanks so much Kristin. I always enjoy hearing from you.
I simply adore the last stanza. Gives me inspiration. And Lord knows that's what I've been missing for a while. I like how you separated the stanzas - it gives the feeling as if there are two poems inside one. Perfect as always! :)
