In the shadows of the day's desires

In the shadows of the day's desires

A Poem by Jack...
"

A simple "Good morning" can brighten the entire day...

"

In the shadows of the day’s desires

In the east…

Sitting on a balcony

Mingling in posy laced dreams

Flip flops cooled by morning zephyrs

A fresh cup filled to ease her endless pain

Thoughts now percolate in bubble induced questions

Rising with the sun, alone…in shadows of the day’s desires

Phrases wrap as beauty evolves from beauty within

Sweet words to caress a distant heart

The call of songbirds sifts softly

In echoes of pleasure’s pace

As time races

                      ~

And comes to pass of destined bliss

Sweet thoughts of that lone single kiss

To touch the heart neath feathered skies

A’ bloom this flower in your eyes

As morning wakes so do the smiles

Horizons cast across the miles

When words of waiting now display

To share your deepest thoughts this day

 ~

Lounging on a patio

Breathing in the loneliness

Counting white spider lily fingers

Swaying to the rhythm of creek fed waters

Longing for that first glimpse of lemon zest glow

Rising with the sun, alone…in shadows of the day’s desires

His mind escaping down honeysuckle pathways

Rebooting his heart while wind chimes call

Fondling the morning’s sweet greeting

Dancing before his needy eyes

As time slows…

In the west

I like all the angles you took here, so many techniques coming together in elegance. The shapes, switching in and out of rhyme and meter, the balance thus created... all a mirror of (what seems to be) male and female realities, meeting in the middle.

The best poem I've come across so far in my few short days here. Thanks for the experience.

"Rebooting his heart" - Seriously? Awesome. I can honestly say I've never seen or read those words together. I do IT work so it naturally caught my attention.

I even like the way this poem LOOKS! It's dern-near symmetrical! Genius!

Two hearts, separate coasts, yet, their light meets in the middle. I love this one, so glad I found it in my RR's. You do have a charming way with words, your poetry is profoundly exquisite.

Carol, your reviews always make me smile
Very nice imagery and flow showing the passing of time East to West and how a new day has many facets, natural, personal and metaphysical. Interesting read.

Thanks so much Astro.
Jack, I really like this one. Two hearts both longing for the same thing...yet separate. So very beautifully written. I love how you specifically describe both of them as alone. It really supports the feelings generated by the rest of your wonderful descriptions of each character. Awesome job.

In The Shadows of the Day's Desire...a nice title.

I loved the format, too... combination of free verse, concrete and rhymed verses.

What I see in here as well as from your previous works, is that you are talking about a "distant heart". Lol. It's just my observation.

This is another romantic piece, Jack. Have it already in my library after reading, and before typing my review. This is wonderful.

So pure, and so delightful Jack, "As morning wakes so do the smiles
Horizons cast across the miles" did it for me, for the world turns, so does every shore, and
so does every poet, from over the world. This has some beautiful, ethnic and hybrid brilliance my friend, also I find it so moving, and calming the same time.
