I play my guitar

I play my guitar

A Poem by Jack...

I play my guitar

I play my guitar,

crying in sevens

on a lonely cold morning

with the rain falling down

Sorrowful chords,

on the strings of emotion

in three quarter tear drops

where sadness is found

And the storm clouds they form

on the edge of tomorrow

with my thoughts ever yearning

for you in my arms

Now a chill finds my heart,

it is empty and hollow

I play my guitar

and there isn’t a sound

The guitar is morning the lost love. Sometimes music can sing what we can not vocalize

Very good. I like the format, it comes across as an old Stephen Foster tune or a hymn. The last line is powerful. One suggestion for improvement might be to experiment with synonyms or replacements for certain words that can bring across more meaning. For example, everyone knows that rain falls, so you might be able to find a better verb than "falling," something a little more descriptive. And the phrase "empty and hollow" is good and fits the meter, but it's redundant. Empty is the same as hollow. Maybe another good descriptive word could take the place of "empty" to bring more meaning to that line.

This is amazing! Such irony in the lines.."I play my guitar and there isn’t a sound."
Loved it.

Thank you my very sweet friend.
I loved pouring out through my guitar or on the piano. I keep saying I"m going to go buy a guitar again, haven't owned one in 30 years now! I'll make that a priority I think next time I'm on home time. Nice work Jack, melancholy and lonely. It speaks to me.
