One Year Whirlwind

One Year Whirlwind

A Poem by Jade Mayhew
"

I wrote a few poems for some close friends. This one was David's.

"

They met at work, two teenagers,
Who'd never talked before.
Then time went on, a friendship formed,
And soon these two were more.

And for two months, they were happy,
As the love between them grew.
Then a rumor brought bad feelings,
Though it was far from true.

And for 8 months her heart waited,
Though beaten, bruised and scarred.
He still warmed her heart enormously,
Though times had gotten hard.

For she knew he'd always be there,
And their love returned at last.
She no longer felt the urge to cry,
No more longing for the past.

These two were gonna make it,
They'd learned from their mistakes.
They knew which problems to avoid,
Which roads were wrong to take.

Well problems, they still came around,
But these two could make it through.
Their love was stronger than the rest,
It was stronger than they knew.

But all good things come to an end,
At one point or another.
But these two had grown close in time,
Both as best friends and as lovers.

And though times had gotten difficult,
And times had gotten tense.
They thought their love would help them through,
This next chain of events.

But they were all wrong and it ended,
Their bond would not sustain.
Where his feelings had faded,
Well, hers, they still remained.

Two months later, she looks at him,
A new girl in his arms.
She smiles at him, her best friend,
There's no cause for alarm.

Cause they're through the awkward weirdness,
The unease came to an end.
And this teenage girl and teenage boy
Had survived a one-year whirlwind.

I like that you managed to tell a life's story in a poem that is not ungodly long. Great way to end this poem. Thanks for entering the Missing Him, Missing Her contest.
