Nickie Thinks

Nickie Thinks

A Poem by jaime
"

about...regret

"

Nickie left behind some passion
at the comfort inn.
She's pretty sure the maid took it,
by now.
She thinks it's alright-
probably didn't need it,
anyway.

Nickie wanders room to room
forgetting why she's there.
She wonders if she lost her mind
this time.
But found it swirling
around the ice
with Jack.

Nickie guesses she should've seen
the stop sign–
all she saw was a made-up smile
in the rearview
at the light
that was way too long
and she rolled straight
into the rush.

Nickie missed her exit and got lost
for a while
before she stopped.
She left her dignity
in the car
and when she got back
it was gone.
And she drove home
without it.

Poor Nickie. I wonder what else she's lost, though? =)

This is well done with some clever play. Although I thought it was going somewhere heavy with the third stanza, and was a little disappointed when it didn't, I do like your ending.

I quite like the voice in this, as well.

Great job. This is well penned and the idea of the femeinine character wandering inside rooms is brilliant.

Thank you for submitting it to the ,,Confessions,, contest.
