The truth

The truth

A Poem by Jay Steitler
"

Common variations on the truth

"
Everyone has their truth.

Some serve it up straight.

Many like a little garnish.

Others block the bitter flavor,

with deceptive spice and floral accents.

That's not how I roll.

I prefer my truth red and raw.

Just a piece I threw up on the fly, for fun, during a creativity brainstorm. Not for serious critique, although you MAY do so.

I don't think any of us necessarily like the truth at all times, but I do think it's better served straight. I would much rather stare cold, stark truth in the face and know what I'm dealing with rather than face lies and delusions, or worse, the truth cloaked in half-truth.

I really hate it when someone tries to tip-toe around an issue and won't say it. Just spill it! Don't worry about my feelings. I'll take care of those. Just say it and get it over with!

What I really despise are those who refuse to acknowledge the truth. On some deep, inner level, even when they know the truth, they refuse to face it. Those are the ones who really prolong the suffering, for either themselves or someone else.

I really think you have managed to sum up "the truth" nicely in this poem. It's short and succinct and covers all ofthe bases, pretty or not.

Well done!

Awww, thanks! Glad to have a fan! Come back often!
Ha! I guess this makes you a "rare" guy...? :)
Yes, the truth is a funny think and seems to look very different depending on who is cooking and seving it up...
I really like this thought! Great poem.

Hah! yes, I thought the cooking analogy was clever, on the fly. Thanks for the review!

That was really thought provoking and wonderful. I don't know if you have meant it to be funny at the end or serious ...Bravo.....................
