breathe breathe breathe
I pant in tempo to the
thud thud thud
of worn sneakers
beating cracked asphalt,
in rhythm to the
thump thump thump
of the pulsing in my veins
relentless and engulfing—
along with the persistent
buzz buzz buzz
of the jeweled dragonfly
gliding lazily
humming cadenced with the
drip drip drip
of something wet it glistens
hazy and burnished orange
trees aflame so golden as I
move move move
first one foot and then the other
chin up
head back
aimed high
and I just keep going as I
see see see
a sea of blue
I stretch to the heavens
the pounding all-consuming
my ears
my heart
my soul
and I
run run run
towards eternity
