Angels and Sin

Angels and Sin

A Poem by Jess Rose

There is a place of which nobody knows
And here is the secret which I will disclose
It’s a land full of wonder, sorrow or joy
It can think for itself. It likes to play coy

It disguises itself as a room full of books
Though I ask you not to judge by its looks
It reveals itself only to those who believe
Those who can think, wear their hearts on their sleeve

And the books, they can take you to magical places
Meet new things, animals, voices or faces
Into a world you can make all your own
Black as the night or white as the bone

And the people, they flock to see marvelous feats
Without ever having to leave their own seats
They open the pages, and so they begin
To enter the world with both angels and sin

Reading things they can’t imagine themselves
In those dusty old books, on those dusty old shelves
So, come! One and all! I urge you to read,
Let your soul feast and let your brain feed.
