The Other Half of the Rainbow

The Other Half of the Rainbow

A Poem by Jonathan Brooks
"

A transition from life to death

"

There’s an arch of color up above tonight,

Rested against the pale pink sky.

Dark clouds are still lingering,

But the bows of the rain

Shot out arrows of sun rays for us.

A brand new gateway has opened

And I’m ready to go through.

It’s high up in the clouds,

So there’s room for you too.

I’ll step through the enchanted puddles,

Now dazzling in the sunlight.

Each one is a stepping stone

To the grand droplet gate.

Through the archway is a world

Where we can put the storms of our past aside.

It’s a brand new promise

To keep us safe eternally.

Yes, I’ll be passing under

Mother Earth’s upper lid,

Into an eye of wonder

And a world unknown to man.

As I pass through, the spectrum is bursting,

Cleansing my body with a shower of color.

The red soaks me in excitement,

The orange cascades a new energy upon me.

The yellow oozes happiness,

The green drips down on me for renewal.

The blue drowns me in peace,

And the violet, in enlightenment.

I no longer envy the birds

That soar high with the sun.

I am color, I am light.

I am warmth and beauty.

I am the other half of the rainbow.

A biography? Are you kidding me? I don't want to tell people that I am twenty. I don't wish to share that I enjoy writing. I don't want to talk about my involvement in creative writing classes. I don'.. more..
