This Tree

Just a little something I wrote at the park today.

This tree.
It stands--strong, tall, and beautiful.
Resiliant against the wind, living like any other.

The irony.
What this tree now stands for, so strong, tall, and beautiful.
Resiliant against the wind, to live for another.

In loving memory.
The tree stands--strong, tall, and beautiful.
Protecting a loving husband from the wind.

And wishing he could live again.

Author's Note

While the writing is my own, the dedication is not. I found the dedication on a tree today in the park.

May Mr. DeGolia forever rest in piece.
