Heartbreakingly Human

Fragile as a butterfly's wing...

One despondent little hummingbird

Restlessly moving forward

Tarnishing the path and leaving it blurred

The vicious parasite turned your wings to stone

Despondent little hummingbird, your feathers are all frosted

And freezing to the bone

Touch your friends and they'll die

Oh burning little hummingbird

Those fatal tears fall from your eye.

Author's Note

I wrote this because a decade long friend is dying, and this is how I chose to immortalize her. It makes me sad to think that this must be how she feels, my despondent little hummingbird friend.
