DAYS END

DAYS END

A Poem by Jeff Bresee
"

Be the reason

"

The days don’t seem to give a damn

They march in step of time

They stare ahead with eyes of steel

While never breaking line

They torture me with disregard

They tread upon my soul

They seem so unaware I’m here

They simply come and go

I once believed the day would come

I hoped that it would give

The thing that I was searching for

A reason I should live

But in the end my hope was vain

Cause nothing’s ever come

I’m tired of holding on and so

I feel the fight is done

Thus here I sit as night rolls in

The choice is mine to make

The glare across the steel call out

“What action will you take”?

Loved the raw emotion in this - especially the first stanzas, very interesting way of writing about the the days passing by while nothing changes for you - every day might as well be the same. Definitely depressing but written well, so I enjoyed reading this poem. =)

Bloody fantastic. Gives a real sense of hopelessness, exhaustion and a general feeling of giving up. Really portrays the ennui which so many people suffer from in this day and age. A great rhythm, great imagery of the days stretching on ahead like a battalion of soldiers.

suicide is a hard topic to tackle. Depression is an even hard thing to overcome. This piece really wraps up the conflict, the pain, and the confusion into something that isn't overtly gruesome (i hope that made sense).

I love this piece.

This is the most powerful poem I have read in a while, it is very very emotional and the rhymes tie it in to force it to flow, like you've nailed it down and said, "These words were meant to be together." And they were. Great job.
